Advice For Wedding Dress Shopping

The dress, your wedding dress, is the one you’ve been dreaming of your entire life. From the day I was old enough to know what being a bride entails, I was immedialty dreaming of my day and my dress. Thanks Disney. By being a fashion blogger, there may have been some big expectations surrounding my dress, but I stayed true to who I am, what I wanted, and I wouldn’t settle for less. Trying on your wedding dress is kinda of like finding your one true love. You will find qualities in them that you knew you wanted before you met, like the plunging back, sweetheart neckline, and vintage lace. Once you find the one that meet those qualities, and you try it on for the first time, it will just click. You will know, and the unexplainable feeling will just hit you like a bus... just like it did when you fell in love. I tried on twenty something gowns before I found “the one”. God help the girl who goes through twenty something boyfriends.

Since finding the perfect dress is definitely a process, I want to share with you my experiences and forward some advice to the newly engaged.

Some advice I have for the Bride and Dress Shopping:

1. Sticking to one main theme makes it easier to weed out. Putting together alloptions can be
overwhelming. I knew I wanted an open back and those were mainly the dresses I tried on. With my my mother and grandmothers, being “Old South” the plunge couldn’t go too low. However, I wanted to see just how low it could go …with classy qualities of course. I think I pulled it off. Plunging back, mermaid cuts, princess silhouettes, lace, or even nude illusions-find what quality is most important to you and stick with it.

2. Don’t be afraid to step outide your comfort zone. Even if you thought you wanted a mermaid gown, try on at least one princess ball gown. You never know what the dress will look like on YOU. Plus you may even like different silhouettes once you try something different. I tried on a big beautiful princess gown, and I loved it. However, I still loved the vintage lace A-lines dresses better. Try on at least one outside your chosen silhouette just so you know. The funny story of this dress is that I never thought of having sleeves before I tried this one on. As I have always been strongly obsessed with old hollywood fashion, the sleeves nostalgically brought me to Grace Kelly and Kate Middleton. I never looked back.

3. All dresses look different on the hanger.

4. When dress shopping, many guests means many opinions. I am a people pleaser. I always want everyone else to be happy, but this my friends is a day that is about YOU and no one else. The dress should make YOU feel beautiful, amazing, and unstoppable. The first couple of times I went dress shopping, I only took my mom. I even went by myself one time. When I found three dresses I could not decide between, I brought only my three closest friends and family, including my mom. You do need a second opinion but only from the that one person who will be honest with you. You’ll need an honest, reliable companion to say, ‘I love it. But it’s just not "you".Bring the ones that will support your decision to look gorgeous. ;)

5. Buy your dress at least six months in advance, maybe even eight. Most gowns take at least six to eight months to come in because of the man power it takes for gorgeusosnes occur, unless you buy it off the rack. You'll most likely have three fittings to get your dress altered to fit you just right. Time it just right.

6. Don’t let a discount distract you from what you really want. I promise, it is worth it to spend a little more and have exactly what you want, than to spend a little less and not have exactly what you wanted for that day. Skim off others things for the reception that are less important. The dress is everything!

7. Stop pinning in the name of love! After you make your purchase put down the pinterst!
Once you purchase your dress, do not keeping looking. I put myself on a Pinterest and Bridal Magazines fast. Don’t even look back on that twenty thousand dollar gown you pinned that you knew was out of reach. You will begin to feel uneasy, become overwhelmed, and even doubt your purchase. After looking and looking, you can forget what you originnaly set out to find. Don’t let magazines, and pinterest confuse you. Trust yourself, and be confident in your decision.

Remember what it was like the first time you put it on, pure euphoria. I promise the morning of your wedding, that feeling will come back to you.

New Hair Routine

I have always had a problem with split ends! My hair is thin, thin, and thin, oh yeah, and fine! I am always looking for volume inducing products and products to keep  my hair long and healthy. Especially since I have my brother-in-law's wedding coming up,  I want my hair to be long and luxurious! I recently got a new ombre hair color. I absolutely love it! I have never dyed my hair before, and ever since I have had the ombre, the ends of my hair have felt super dry. I also felt like they were breaking very easily. I had been using other aragon products.  They was ok, but I never felt like I got any real results. Most of the products smelled really good, but by the end of the day, I felt like my ends had started drying out and frazzling again.

I  am now using this Argan Oil (picture above). Thank you Maple Holistic's! It has been absolutely amazing. You only need about two small squirts in your palm. I only apply it from the middle to the bottom of my hair with a focus on the very ends. After I get out of the shower I put this oil in my damp hair, blow dry and style like I always do. Even after I have applied the harsh heat from my blow dryer and curling iron, the ends of my hair feel hydrated and healthy. My hair now feels weightless. I feel more body. I also felt like my hair was much more healthy. My hair wasn't even the slightest bit oily by the end of the day either!

One reason why I love this product, Argan Oil from Maple Holistics is that it is a clear fluid instead of a dark orange. I have been using this product for the past couple of months, and I only have good things to say.
There are also more uses of argan oil than just hair treatment. I also use this remedy on my nailbeds because they get extremely dry and start to peel in the winter. This oil has really helped this problem.
If you would ever like to try free samples of Maple Holistics click HERE! If you aren't sure is Maple Holistics is for you check out this great blog post on their purple shampoo, which after reading I would love to try next!

Boho Denim

Boohoo Denim Dress | Sandals: Morrell's Armoire | Necklace: Morrell's Armoire | Hat: Morrell's Armoire
Denim has really revolutionized the fashion industry. I can't imagine what my closet would be without my staple denim jackets, dresses, and of course jeans!  Today I am repping Boohoo in this denim Jessie Open Shoulder Dress. I have literally lived in this dress since I received it a week ago. I love that 90's inspired style is coming back, and this babydoll look encompasses that completely. You could also add a little more street style and edge  by pairing this dress with Adidas tennis shoes, and maybe a leather jacket.  This dress is a clean classic and can even be rocked by adding black shades, and a nice handbag.
I also want to give you all a little update on the online store. I know there are currently no new products in my store; however, I do have new inventory.  I am in the process of having a new site built, which is currently under construction.  We should be live in about two weeks. You can shop my Instagram feed and Facebook feed by sending me a direct message or comment with style and size,  and I'll send you a PayPal invoice.  So far, we have sold lots of jewelry, and a handbag! Thanks for all your support! I hope you will stop by and check us out in two weeks, until then I'll see you on insta.

Brighten Your Day!

If you know me , you know that I love the beach! I practically live at my parent's beach house in the summer. My mom has preached to me time and time again about wearing sunscreen, but aI hate to say, we don’t  always want to listen to our moms when we are young and headstrong. Later when we get older, and wiser,  we then learn that EVERYTHING they told us was true. I am only 27 now and I wear sunscreen on my face EVERY TIME i’m in the sun to prevent aging and sunspots.
Unfortunately, after being addicted to the sun and tanning in my high school and college years, I do already have some sun damage on my face. For the past 4 weeks, I’ve been trying LUMAPRO-C: Brightening Pigment Corrector Serum by Hydropeptide. It safely fades existing dark spots, age spots, and inhibits future discoloration with the latest in drug-free technology. This facial serum is ideal for anyone wanting a brighter complexion while improving overall skin radiance. I can really tell a difference in the tone of my skin, and I can even recognize the aging improvements in just four shorts weeks.  The formula is very creamy with a very citrusy scent. I love the scent. It makes me feel more energized. I especially love it in the mornings. The scent really wakes me up.
Luma-C isn’t cheap. It retails for $148.00. That is a little expensive for the size of 1oz the bottle.  If you would like to try this brightening serum for yourself, here is a20% discount code to use on your LumaPro-C purchase, which makes it really affordable compared to other skin serums. Follow this link http://shop.hydropeptide.com/lumapro-c/#.WDS5xS0rI9Y and use code BBLUMA20 to recieve 20% off your LumaPro-C purchase.
I hope you like your results.

Proportions Made Easy

Chunky Knit Sweater similar, here, and here | Leather Skirt similar herehere, and here | Express Booties | Ray-ban Clubmaster
It's all about balance, and opposites always attract in fashion. If you want to wear something large and oversized, something smaller on the other end will always compliment it. Combine items that are "uneven in proportion to each other": Instead of two items that are the same length, look for  long and a short garments to put together. A shorter jacket looks best with a longer skirt, ect.  A sleek, skinny, mini leather skirt that hugs my waist pairs perfectly with a big, loose, chunky knit sweater!  See, proportions are easy!
Also, my new obession are stackable gold rings! These beauties are from Eternal Sparkle, and I swear I did not make that ring sparkle the way it did in the picture. No edits here, only true, gorgeous sparkle!

Dress and Booties - Blue Spero Boutique  | Cardigan Forever 21
I'm a sucker for dresses, even in the fall and winter months. I love to style dresses with booties, and these from Blu Spero take the cake. They are so unique with the slit down the side. The only downside is you may not be able to wear socks with these. Try some low cut bootie socks if you must.
I have died over this suede lace up dress from Blu Spero Boutique. It's extremely comfortable, cute,  and the lace up neckline adds a hint of edginess.  I styled it with a long cardigan form Forever 21 for a little more coverage during chilly weather.
hank you Blu Spero for this collaboration!

Wool Wrapped

Banana Republic Coat | Banana Republic Scarf |Tory Burch Bag Similar | Express Jeans | BCBG Pumps Similar | David Yurman Bracelets | David Yurman Ring

It's that time again when all your Winter coats start to reappear. I usually try only to buy one coat a year, so they have to be timeless. This wool wrap coat from Banana Republic  will stand the test of time. It is extremely classic.  I will be wearing this for winters to come. It comes in three exemplary colors, Grey, Olive, and my chosen color, Light Pink. Never once think you can't wear pastels in the colds months! Pastel colors are really in this season. Pastel coats in particular are the most wearable piece you could own this winter. The sweet pastels are the perfect solution to a brighten your day and fight the dreary winter blues.
You can dress this jacket up or dress is down. In my look today, I have made it semi-casual with my cut skinny jeans, pumps, and a scarf. My scarf is also from Banana Republic. The colors of the scarf coincide with the color of the jacket and they really complement each other. I could even see myself wearing this ensemble to a fancy night out with a black dress, tights, and some really big bling statement jewelry!
The color is gorgeous but I also would like to highlight the fit. This coat is not too tight, even across the shoulders where most wool coats tend to be. I also love the fit it because it ties and is highly adjustable around the waist. This coat can really bring out your feminine side with the  bow tie. I’ve already got a lot of compliments about this coat and now my mom is  wanting to borrow it for her trip to Washing D.C. in a couple of weeks.

Wow! I looked up, and it is almost two months since I took the plunge. It goes by so fast. As
you may know, I decided on a morning wedding with a brunch for the reception. For our
day, I wanted something different and out of the ordinary. I am still so happy that I
decided to go with the ten o'clock ceremony and brunch. The breakfast food was
amazing, the music was perfect, and my guests were ready for their afternoon naps by
2 p.m. Plus, Lance and I got to eat a romantic dinner, just the two of us on our wedding night. That never happens, right? There was only one problem with this morning wedding.. We were a little rushed the morning of the wedding for pictures. I ended up getting my hair done at 4:45 a.m. and my pictures with my bridesmaids started at seven. Since I knew we would be in a
crunch for time, I decided to add on a "Morning After" photography package. Our
session wasn't exactly the "morning after", but it did take place after the wedding was
over.
I am extremely happy with these photos. I think that an After Photograpahy Session; is an excellent idea. Yes ladies, you can actually put on your wedding dress after the wedding. That reminds me, let me tell you why you should book an After Session...

1. You have an excuse to put on your wedding gown again.
Enough said.

2. You will not be stressed or nervous.
The wedding is over and all the pressure is lifted. You and your groom can really be
yourself, and you can really tell that in the pictures. You will be more relaxed knowing
that you have extra time. Wedding day is so special in itself, but you can take these
pictures without the extra butterflies and emotions. It's calm and relaxed. You won't be
worried about all the minute details either.

3. So what if your dress gets a little dirty?
That might have been the only thing I was worried about during my bridal sessions. In
those sessions, I stood still for the most part and my maid of honor carried my dress
everywhere and placed it very carefully on every surface. During the "morning after"
pictures I was able to move around more, and really get the shots I wanted without
worries of minor stains. I honestly kept my dress very clean, even with the setting we
were in.

4. The pictures can be taken in ANY kind of setting.
If you got married in your small home town but wanted a more metro vibe, you can have
that in your pictures. Any destination is possible. Plus, I'm sure your photographer would
love to get creative with the location.

5. Different times of the day are all options
Lighting is everything in a picture, so you can choose your favorite time of day with your
photographer. Sunrise, or sunset, it doesn't have to be the same time as your wedding.
I hope that was helpful. I love my After Session photos, and I can't wait to get them
framed. Your After Session is the perfect way to start your happily ever after...

From my wedding to yours, thanks for stopping by.
